A gel polymer electrolyte with Al2O3 nanofibers skeleton for lithium—sulfur batteries

As a promising secondary battery system, lithium—sulfur (Li—S) batteries have attracted extensive attention due to their high energy density. However, the development of Li—S is hindered by detrimental shuttling soluble lithium polysulfides (LiPs) in traditional liquid electrolytes. In this work, we fabricate functional gel polymer electrolyte for batteries. This consists poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexaflfluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP) matrix and continuous γ-Al2O3 three-dimensional skeleton with structural thermal stability. PVDF-HFP offers lithium-ion transport pathways equips flexibility, whereas inorganic as Lewis acid can suppress LiPs through strong acid-base interactions between LiPs. addition, has an effect on base bis(trifluoromethanesulphony)imide anion, facilitating dissociation salts leading transference number. Moreover, improve ionic conductivity reacting LiF partly form conductors LiAlO2 Li3AlF6. Benefiting from synergistic γ-Al2O3, cells present improved cycling stability terms cathode capacity retention anode morphology. work provides strategy fabricating multifunctional electrolytes high-energy
